Prestwich went joint top of the Lancashire County League First Division following a maximum points haul from their two games away at Woodhouses and Denton.

Batting first at Woodhouses on Saturday, Andy Bradley’s team were bowled out for 226 with James Wharmby top scoring with 62. Ali Raza scored another 48 while Ryan Stanbury hit 44 and pro Martin Walters got 32.

In reply Woodhouses fell to 175 all out with the Prestwich skipper taking 5-80, Sam Holden 2-31 and Stanbury 2-52. Wharmby snared 5 victims behind the stumps while Walters sealed the victory with his first wicket for the club.

Sunday’s trip to Denton greeted the Prestwich team with interesting pitch conditions following overnight rainfall.

Three wickets each for Wilf Reeve, Sam Holden and Ryan Stanbury help dismiss the home side for just 80.

In reply, James Wharmby top scored again with 33 as Stanbury’s 19 and Raza’s 16 contributed to a 6 wicket win for the visitors inside 25 overs.
