WALTERS EXTENDS STAY FOR 2016

Monday August 17th 2015 | Club, Cricket

Prestwich Cricket Club are delighted to announce that Martin Walters has signed on for the 2016 season.

Marty is a current first class professional cricketer from South Africa, in this his first season with the club he has already scored over 850 runs including 3 fifties and 3 hundreds at an impressive average of 54.

On extending his contract Marty said “I have really enjoyed my first season at Prestwich. We’ve had some incredible performances from the boys and this has come through hard work and dedication. The stand out for me is the unbelievable team spirit and the willingness to grow as cricketers from the lads. I look forward to the new challenges next season with the formation of the GMCL and am delighted to have re-signed for the 2016 season”.

Captain Andy Bradley said “Marty has made such a huge difference both on and off the field, as well as around the club in general that it was a very simple decision to ask him to re-sign for the 2016 season. Apart from his obvious skill with the bat, his knowledge of the game and willingness to share how things are done at a higher playing level with the rest of the lads has really pushed us along this season and we are looking forward to welcoming him back in early 2016”.

We are grateful to Gary Hunt at Cric Intro for all his help with re-signing Marty for 2016.
