JUNIOR TRAINING UPDATE

Wednesday June 10th 2020 | Cricket

Message from Steve Orrell, Club Academy Director:

Following the latest guidance from the English Cricket Board, the introduction of small group sessions for junior players, in line with Government guidance, has been considered.

It has been decided that, with social distancing and safety measures put in place, net practices can be held with up to 5 players and one coach at any one time .

Due to the off-field net area being enclosed, not making it possible to comply with social distancing requirements, group sessions will be held on the all-weather strip on the ground.

Initially, sessions will only be open for the U13 age groups and upwards. Parents are being notified to assess if their child is able to attend any organised sessions.

There will be no practices for Under 11s at this stage. As and when restrictions are lifted, this will be reviewed.

The club fully understands that some parents may not feel the time or circumstances are right for their child to train, and this is perfectly fine. The club is aiming to provide a facility for those who are comfortable doing so, with the recommended health and safety measures being adhered to. If restrictions are flouted, then group sessions will be halted.

Opportunities to use the off-field cricket net will continue, and must be pre-booked.
The net can only be used with members of the same household OR with one other person from outside your household, keeping two metres apart at all times. There can be groups of no more than 2 people in the enclosed net, unless you are exclusively with members of your household.
Sessions (lasting 50 minutes) can be booked by copying and pasting the following link. Full details and rules can be viewed on the website article from May 16th.
