Reports

Prestwich FC U10 Meerkats 5-6 North Walkden
This was a game between two attacking teams who put on a great show of junior football.

The Meerkats were caught out by the away team and it made for a memorable match. Alexander scored 2 with Lewis, Ashley and Tobi all getting a goal each.

Tobi was the Man of the match. Very well done to both teams and the Meerkats I thought deserved a draw.

Horwich RMI Blues v PFC Under 9 Pyhtons
Another great team performance from the Pythons saw them totally dominate Horwich from start to finish.

A huge pitch fell into the strengths of the Pythons whose quick interchange of passing was outstanding, especially in the first half.

A super drive from Jayden and a neat finish from Harvey gave us the lead a half time.

Again, wholesale changes throughout the second half stopped our momentum somewhat but a further goal from Mathew direct from a corner made the scoreline comfortable.

However, lots of chances went begging which was my only concern from what otherwise was another good team performance.

Man of the match was Jayden. Well done boys, I’m so proud.

Whitworth Valley Wasps v Prestwich FC U7 Pumas
An early morning trek to Whitworth for the Pumas as they looked to build on last weeks first win of the season against Chadderton Park.

And despite falling behind to an early goal from the home side, the Pumas hit back with strikes from Sam H and Umair to grab the lead.

But this topsy-turvy game then swung back in Whitworth’s favour as they hit home twice to regain their advantage.

Leo’s left-footed strike from the ‘keepers parry found the back of the net to drag the scores level, and that signalled a start of period of pressure from Prestwich which should have killed off the game.

Sam H’s powerful strike clattered an upright while Leo rolled one effort past the far post and had another well saved.

Umair was also unlucky with a chance and with Adam and Ashley working tirelessly up and down the pitch and Sam C and AJ keeping the home side pinned in their own half, it was surely only a matter of time.

But as is often the case in these situations, the team under the cosh broke free with minutes remaining to grab a goal and retake the lead.

As head’s dropped, Whitworth piled on the misery with a final goal on the stroke of full-time which added a completely flattering skew to the score line.
