Reports

Horwich St Marys Eagles 2-2 PFC Under 10 Meerkats
Another cracking match between two of the top teams in the division. It was end to end football and both teams were a credit to the junior game.

Horwich scored first and went in at half time 1-0 up.

After the break, both teams had chances to score but the home side scored again to double their lead.

The Meerkats showed great character and continued to play good football. Lewis outran the defence and shot but the goalie made a great save. However, Lewis stayed alert and picked up the loose ball and rounded the keeper to put the visitors back in the match.

The Meerkats again attacked in force and got a deserved equaliser through Tobi. This Meerkats team showed great team spirit today and a draw was a great result.

Well done to both teams and fantastic support again.

Pennine Red v PFC Under 7 Pumas
The Puma’s recent unbeaten run came to an abrupt end in the last North Bury League game before the winter break.

But things started so brightly for Prestwich as they raced in to a two-nil lead at Hopwood Hall College in Middleton. Striker Umair getting both goals as the Pumas dominated the opening moments.

This good spell didn’t last long though and Pennine exploited Prestwich’s defensive frailty and stormed in to a four-two lead at the break.

After the restart, Umair pulled one back for the Pumas but more strikes from the home side were putting this game out of reach. Ash pulled another back before Leo clattered a post.

Pennine then grabbed their eighth before Umair finished off the scoring with his fourth of the match.

The Pumas now need to use this two month winter break to really get to work on the defensive side of their game.

If they can then bring down the current average of six goals a game conceded then this little team would rarely lose.
