Panthers seal their first league win

Prestwich ladies notched up their first league win on Sunday.

This coming Sunday sees the Under 17s Cup Final down at The Heys as Prestwich take on Woodhouses, starting at 2pm. The team for Prestwich is as follows and your support for the lads would be appreciated so please get down for the match if you can.

James Wharmby top scored for Prestwich with 43no as Steve Lorenzini’s men made amends for their opening day defeat to Stand back in April with a five wicket triumph. Phil Kyle impressed with the ball as his 5-48 contributed to the home side’s all out 158 total.

Following his nomination for an “Outstanding Service to Cricket Award” (OSCA) in its inaugural year in 2009, Bob Hinchliffe went one better in 2010 when he was awarded with the trophy at Lancashire’s new venue, “The Point”, on the 2nd July.

Steve Orrell scored 48 as Prestwich survived a mini middle order collapse to pick up four points away at Woodbank on Saturday. Professional Danny Jones shone with the ball as his 6-44 help restrict the home side to 143-8 before Prestwich replied with a 3 wicket win.

Phil Kyle’s 5-41 helped keep Dukinfield under two hundred while a good 79 from Professional Danny Jones gave the home side hope in the run chase but it wasn’t to be as Prestwich fell an agonising 15 runs short of their target.

Errors in the field helped bottom club Thornham to amass 246 at Rochdale Road on Saturday. In reply, Sam Holden top scored for Prestwich with 42 but with wickets falling regularly, Steven Lorenzini’s side were eventually bowled out 70 runs short of their target.
