Prestwich ladies notched up their first league win on Sunday.

Prestwich could be in for a rollercoaster season after a mixed return from their weekend double-header on home soil. The season was looking far from rosy after high-flying Flowery Field put the Heys team to bed on Saturday.

A SEVEN-wicket blitz from Prestwich’s Danny Jones proved too hot to handle for Denton. They were left floundering after the professional’s blast had ripped the home side apart for a lowly 67.

The fixture secretary of the Lees Lancashire County League wasted no time in spicing up the first day of the season when he landed Stand with the short trip to neighbours Prestwich.

2XI – STAND v PRESTWICH

Prestwich went into this local derby with Stand keen to get their campaign to regain the Second Division title off to a winning start. New skipper, John Fiorentini, lost the toss and Stand elected to bat on a good wicket which offered something for both bat and ball.

Youngsters can dust down their bats ready for the first outdoor practice this Friday. Junior practice sessions for under 11, 13, 15 and 17s get under way at 6.15pm and will run through until the end of August.
