They’ve done it! Prestwich Panthers are purring.

They notched up their first league win on Sunday by 10 runs in a well-contested and good-spirited game against Unsworth.

It was a real team effort to record their ground-breaking victory with some excellent bowling and batting, losing only one wicket in the process.

Visitors Unsworth set a target of 274, having lost 4 wickets in their 16-over innings. Chava Pearl (including a caught and bowled) and Tina Wong each took 2 wickets, assisted by a well-taken catch from captain Clare Orrell.

The Prestwich ladies then steadily chipped away at the target, thanks to opening pair Charlotte Orrell and Jassmine Hillson, followed by Chava Pearl and Anaiza Waheed, Clare Orrell and debutant Hannah Vickers, leaving Angele Harrison and Tina Wong to secure victory – a proud moment for the whole squad.

The victory capped a fine week for the ladies as the team of Clare Orrell, Nicki Compton, Anna Avanessian, Angele Harrison, Chloe Farrer, Leah Moores, Kira Wall and Tina Wong contested the Bowdon Vale CC softball tournament last Tuesday. They won 2 out of their 3 games, losing out only to group winners Bollington.
